BETTER THE FIRST ONE - After continuous advances have been made here we have the new Louis Vuitton FW 2009 campaign shot by Steven Meisel and those of Alas and Piggott for Emporio Armani Underwear. Probably when you have too high expectations is normal to be disappointed or partially unsatisfied with the end, I can not hide some bitterness looking at this new proposals. Marc Jacobs, artistic director of the French maison, confirms Madonna as testimonial of the brand with both Bugh Bunny ears(choice not completely appreciated by the press and buyers) and Barbie clothes style . I appreciate the use of Solarization Photoshop effect, which is made so artistic with a wink to Pop Art, but I dislike the very static pose. How can relegate the Material Girl as a simple dummy? At 50 years old she fills entire stadiums and I don’t think she merits a common sofa covered in velvet! I'm sorry, but the visual impact lasts barely 4 minutes!
Going out of the frying pan into the fire I will challenge you to talk about Beckhams in underwear with their tonic bodies tangled in ropes vessel. Anyone in front of these pics immediately think "how have tanned their hair?". The attention is immediately caught by that sort of corvine hairpiece on the head of David while the poor Victoria boasts a tail ethnic worthy of more noble Queen of the marshes. And where did the charm and sensuality of Posh'n'Becks? Despite the harmony of marriage these photos convey little passion. He seems to think "Was the right decision leave Milan?” And Posh "I hope the nanny stays a little bit more so I can go to Hermés for a new Birkin!".

Happy new LV Year!

Holiday - Celebrate!

HAPPY NEW LV YEAR! - In times of crisis some fresh news welcome these cold winter days. That genius of Marc Jacobs, artistic director of the Maison Vuitton, has two large previews of his spring / summer collection. After Jennifer Lopez, Scarlett Johansson and Catherine Denevue another superstar is going to represent the much-loved fashion house, but this time it was even more great, the top of the top, the best of the best, the last DIVA: Madonna! The Material girl puts herself back into play and, to celebrate her 50, here are the first pics by Steven Meisel. The malicious (and envious) are thinking about abundant doses of Photoshop, but if it was, the result is nothing short of excellent. The surprises are not finished here, the American designer has decided to pose himself to present the new Monogram Neon Graffiti collection which resumed cooperation with the metropolitan artist Stephen Sprouse (who died in 2004, and which Rizzoli will edit the catalog “The Stephen Sprouse Book”). The photos of Terry Richardson for Harper's Bazaar perfectly illustrate the will to make look younger the most famous monogram of the world. I can't wait for S/S ads on magazines!

Back to black

BACK TO BLACK - This summer I looked to the special issue of Vogue Italia dedicated to black beauty, a project intended by the director Franca Sozzani and realized with the photographer Steven Meisel to bring attention to the black models. In addition to admire the many editorial portraying the eternal Iman, tv star Tyra, the ubiquitous Naomi and many others, I read the little essay by Robin Givhan (first fashion journalist winner of the Pulitzer Prize for criticism in 2006, she works for Washington Post). I carryover salient parts that are also well my point of view. "The black beauty will receive attention for a month and the rest will be reserved for the white girls? [...] How many black girls are there in catwalk? Not enough. The trend of fashion change as the tide, but high Tide of black models seems to be really long time ago. Their absence is a sad anomaly. [...] The beauty is power. And if the fashion world provides a definition of beauty, in fact establish who has power and who did not. [...] The designers, in the seasons in which they are inspired by the Masai culture, hip-hop or jazz filled the parades of black girls. They know to be politically correct. But if the issue of parade is not ethnic, but sexy, minimalist or architecture the black models do not work anymore. [...] This is disconcerting because black women - and men - were well inserted in other aspects of popular culture. The music that accompanies the fashion shows was recorded and produced by black artists such as Beyoncé, Prince, Kanye West, Rihanna. It is likely that the first rows are dotted by these celebrities, they were offered a flight, first class hotel and hospitality by heads of state. On the red carpet, artists like Halle Berry help to promote the image of the designer. So, in the fashion world black actors and musicians are respected and honored, why not the same happens with the models? [...] Designers like to think of themselves as artists, but what painter use to with just a few shades of color? " Despite this piece dates back nearly three months ago is worth reflecting on the power of publishing, the July issue of Vogue Italia has been re-printed and translated into English to be sold in the U.S. market following a whirlwind of curiosity that has invested blogs and online forums, international press (and not) has devoted much attention to this "growing awareness" and the result of all the fuss has come in recent days in Milan. Never before like this year fashion week have seen many black on the catwalks of Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Versace, Moschino, Ferragamo and many others. Simple coincidence? I believe rather that when a problem is dealt with attention from the authoritative source is impossible to remain deaf. Congratulations then to the entire editorial staff of Vogue Italia for raising a thorny issue so far mention other titles (Anna Wintour who?).
